Traffic Sense

We often keep cribbing ... saying that people in Pune don't really have the much needed "traffic sense" anymore

But how do u define traffic sense...?

There could be two definitions...based on two varied perspectives...

One is...ease the co-commuter's journey...while the other much easier one is...think about yourself and only yourself...ease your journey...

Now I don't need to explicitly mention...which perspective puneites agree to...

Traffic rules...that puneites adhere to:

  • These are general rules for all the vehicles
    • (This is a very imp rule...anyone found violating this rule may be heavily fined..!) – I am never wrong..even if I change my lane, cross another's lane...I am not wrong...rather I am proving my driving skills...
    • If someone honks and I give way...I am not fit to drive in Pune.
    • I need not give an indication that I'm turning, in advance. It is only sufficient that I turn the wheels of my vehicle in the direction I wish to turn. Vehicles that maybe inconvenienced are none of my concern.
    • I am driving on a race track, so even if I hit someone who cares...
    • If I'm stuck in a traffic jam...even 1cm of distance I cover will help me reach my destination in time...
    • If someone is hit, falls down, is hurt...I am not supposed to stop and help. I am supposed to watch and have a hearty laugh at how people are arguing...
    • At a crossing, it is your right to go first...always...
    • If a vehicle is struggling to take a u-turn on a busy road, and he's half way through, you are not supposed to give him way. He is destined to wait, even if that means causing a traffic jam for the other traffic...
    • Try your best to break signals, signals are made to be broken...
    • If a female overtakes you, your ego is hurt. Overtake her, cut her lane in the next three seconds, else your not fit to be a man...
    • If you have to turn right...you should NOT be in the right lane...
  • These are rules buses/trucks follow
    • I need to keep changing my lane from extreme right to extreme left...
    • If another vehicle is trying to overtake me from the right, block him in such a way that he's just saved from getting cramped...
  • These are rules two wheelers follow
    • Drive as if the road is curved...take sharp turns at every turn...(coz the youth is very imaginative na..)
    • Keep to your left is an old rule...the new one is keep ur vehicle in the middle lane...
    • In case of a traffic jam, use footpaths as roads...every inch forward helps you in reaching your destination...in time...
  • These are rules cars follow
    • Who said only two wheelers can zig-zag and keep changing lanes...I can do that too...
  • These are rules rickshaws follow
    • I can stop anywhere in between..(afterall I need passengers na...)
  • These are rules cyclists follow
    • I will not drive on the left...that hurts my image...
  • These are rules pedestrians follow..to ease vehicular (com)motion
    • Don't use footpaths...they have been made by mistake..
    • Don't cross when the signal is red...the best time is when its green...and vehicles are approaching at their top speed...(its adventurous na...)

Excellent post zaru......

Best post with every TRUE word.

Still i would really like to add 1 point :
1) Gone the trend of using INDICATOR to turn..
Now a days, one just turns head to respective sides and every1 should understand that he/s he wants to take that turn.. :(

So bad is this traffic situation...

U have put it up very neatly n have covered every point...

I give 1st rank to ur blog for this wonderful post..

Keep on bloging...
Reading ur post is kind of real good experience for me..

Hi nice post.
I think its not only meant to pune but for most of indian towns except very few exceptions.i will add some points of my own.

Bangalore
If there is a traffic jam, drive your vehicle through foot path.

Amritsar
Never mind about traffic signal posts. They are just been kept for beautification purpose.
