Keep in touch

Back then in school...I didn't have a cell phone. A landline (without a caller ID) sufficed. We left school and moved on, we said "keep in touch"

Junior college beckoned and so did new friends. Some had cell phones then. Landlines were left out. We left junior college and moved on, we said "keep in touch"

Engineering college was the next stop, new friends, new dreams, new future plans. First year was a blast.
Landlines with caller IDs were common. Missed calls even then, told us we are in touch.

Next year, we left each other to join our respective departments, we said "keep in touch"

Three more years in the same college, cell phones were common now. We had each other's contact numbers, we said "we will keep in touch"
The social networking craze caught up, every friend was on your profile. We said "we will keep in touch"

College years passed by, jobs started pouring in money. New friends at work, new trips, new definitions of a fun time. We made more contacts, but did we keep in touch?

Keeping in touch was now so easy. Just an sms away, just a buzz away, just an IM away. But did we keep in touch?

How many contacts in your phonebook, or how many friends on your facebook friends list have you spoken to recently?

true.. i can count how many of them are there.. But you know... you may not get along with everyone and everything as you had thought.. that's why it happens..

yup..that's their part of the bargain..I mean..yes priorities change..
But, atleast you can make an attempt..if the opposite person does not react..then their bad luck..but you should not feel you didn't try :)

I agree. You have to make an effort, but after making the effort so many times, it just gets discouraging. I think after so long, you should let them make the effort if they want to keep in touch. =]

@dan_103 true. this is not a one-sided effort but needs to be reciprocated too. But then as they say..its destiny..they weren't meant to be friends always :)
